Here is a personal example of how to use web 2.0 technologies and iphone apps for informal learning and instant professional development.
1. Content source
Wesley Fryer downloaded Texas “Long-Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020″ PDF file.
2. Edit & rebundle content
He used the free Stanza desktop application to convert and share the PDF file in eReader format to his iPhone and read it with the free eBook Reader Stanza. Then he published his comments in his blog.
2. Delivery
Being connected to Wesley (@wfryer) via twitter and following the blog’s RSS feed I was notified of the new post in Google Reader.
3. Migrate for learning
Having no time to read it, I used Instapaper Read Later button in Firefox to save the post. In my free time I used the Read It Later Free application to read the article in my iphone.
4. Note taking
Finally I used Evernote on the iphone to keep quotes from the article and add my own thougths on the future of education in Greece.
Do you have similar learning processeses and stories to share? What tools do you use? Photo by JD Hancock.
